Purchases From Paris - Non-beauty Stuff

Purchases From Paris - Non-beauty Products

So this is the second and final part to my Purchases From Paris posts, which is all of the non-beauty things that I picked up. If this were to include food and snacks that I bought while I was over there then this would be a considerable longer post, but I actually only bought back 3 things with me! I’m super in love with them all so I can’t wait to share them with you guys.

On my third day in Paris we went up the Eiffel Tower in the morning and then walk down Champs Elysee in the afternoon. We didn’t actually do that much shopping there, partially because we has walked all the way from the Eiffel Tower and we were so tired and also because most of the shops were super expensive! I picked this up in a shop that I had never heard of before called Naf Naf. And they were having a huge sale so this top was 50% off and was only $12.50!

This is a bit out of my comport zone but I love this front zip detail. It looks really modern and sexy.

The sleeves also have a pretty lace detail

Hope I get to go back to this shop at some point as I loved all of the stuff in there, reminded me a bit of Zara.

I also bought this beautiful star print scarf in a market shop by the Notre Dame

I think this will look super pretty on cold December evenings

So many of the tourist shops in Paris sold little Eiffel Tower statutes like the one above. They did them in all sorts of metals and bright colours with gems on and all I wanted was a plain white one to go with my bedroom and remind me of the holiday. I went in so many of these shops and then right on the last day I found exactly what I had been looking for and just the right size. It looks so cute on the shelves above and it's just a cute little thing to remind me of such an amazing holiday.

Purchases From Paris – Beauty Products

Purchases From Paris – Beauty Products

This post is a little overdue, but I definitely didn’t want to miss it out. As some of you may know about a week and a half ago I was in Paris with my boyfriend for four days. And even though we weren’t there for very long I still managed to fit in a little bit of shopping! I’ve decided to split this post into two parts, beauty products and non-beauty products so I can talk about everything I have bought in a bit more detail without the post getting too long.
Watching a lot of YouTube videos and reading a lot of beauty blogs means that over the years I have heard a lot of people raving about French beauty products. In fact I was nearly as excited about going to a French Pharmacy as I was about climbing the Eiffel Tower! There were a few Brands that I had heard of like Nux and La Roche Posay that I really wanted to try out. And lucky enough for me but not so lucky for Jack who was dragged in about 14 different pharmacies in search of a lip balm I did manage to pick up a few things! So here are the 5 things that I have managed to pick up as well as my first impressions of them.

La Roche Posay 50+ ultra-light sun cream/moisturiser

Sadly I don’t know enough (any!) French to tell you if this product is meant to be just a sun cream of a moisturiser with an SPF! But I don’t think it really matters as either way I think this is amazing.  I have been in the market for ages know for an everyday sun cream that I can wear with no makeup or under makeup. Yes, I’m one of those OCD people that try to wear sun cream all year round as I don’t want wrinkles when I’m older! I’ve tried a few facial sun creams but the ones with high SPF all seem to be really thick and hard to apply or smell really funky! This one is so light and so easy to blend and it doesn’t have a funky smell either. I don’t have to wait to put my makeup on afterwards and it has a really high protection. I know larger Boots do sometimes sell La Roche Posay products so I really hope that they do this one too!

Reve De Miel

This was the product that meant that I had to drag Jack into those 15 pharmacies! I was so desperate to get my hands on this as I had heard so many good things about it. It is a really moisturising lip balm and it is a massive pot so I know that it is going to last me a while. The first time that I used it though (basically as soon as I had bought it) according to Jack it made my lips go a bit of a funny colour. I also wasn’t too sure about the scent at first but it is growing on me. The is quite a thick long lasting lip balm and I really like to have this by my bed and use it just before I go to sleep.

La Roche Posay Serozinc

Before I left for Paris I was watching an Amelia Liana French pharmacy haul video and she was raving about this stuff, so much so that I think she picked up five on these! I only picked up one as I just wanted to try it out and find out what she was raving about. I have been using this but I don’t think that I have been using this long enough to notice if it has made a huge difference in my skin or not so I think that I will have to wait a bit longer before I can make any real judgement.

Bioderma Micellar Water

I’m sure you’ve all heard of this! Since buying the Garnier Micellar cleansing water a few months back and not being sure about it I’ve fallen more and more in love with it, so it is now my go to product to take off my makeup. So when I Paris I was desperate to pick this up – the original! I only picked up the little bottle, firstly because I thought it was cute and secondly because I found myself spending quite a bit of money in Paris, and buying the smaller bottle of Bioderma was my idea of being controlled! I do kind of see what all of the hype is about when it comes to this product though; it’s so gentle yet removes everything. Although that said I think that just because it is so much effort to get hold of I will be sticking with my Garnier one and saving this cute little bottle for travelling.

Avene Clearance Face Mask

The number of face masks that I have at the moment is getting a bit ridiculous! But masks are the part of my face routine that I like to change up the most and try lots of new ones. So naturally in Paris this brand caught my eye and I picked up their face mask. Although since then I have actually seen this brand in Boots! Anyway, this is a really quick simple mask. I’ve only used it twice so I haven’t noticed any huge differences in my skin. But it hasn’t irritated my skin or made me break out and it left my skin feeling really fresh and clean.

So those were the 5 products that I picked up on my trip to Paris. Let me know if you have tried any of these products and what you think of them or what you favourite French pharmacy buys are. xx

Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation and Healthy Balance Powder

Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation and Healthy Balance Powder

Up until about a month ago I was a total foundation virgin! And that is saying something for someone who loves makeup as much as I do. The first and main reason for this is I hate the idea of having something cakey sitting on my skin all day that feels horrible and doesn’t even look that great. When I thought of foundation I thought of a thick blotchy orange tinted paste, not something I wanted to waste my money on. Also I am very much a BB cream lover, they are light and moisturising but this give all the coverage that I need. Also a bit like perfume shopping the idea of foundation shopping doesn’t really appeal to me. I had no idea where to start trying to find my perfect shade, or if lighting makes a difference or what kind different foundations are even out there. And buying the wrong foundation would be like buying a dress that doesn’t fit properly but not being able to take it back afterwards. And for a student tight on money like me that wasn’t an investment I wanted to risk

However about a month ago I had a prom makeup to buy list and at the top of my list was a foundation. I had wanted to try this one for a while after hearing a lot of good things about it – mostly from Vivianna Does Makeup. She described it as being light and moisturising with a really natural looking finish so it sounded right up my street. So one day on my way to a dance show while I was wondering around Boots when I spotted a buy one get one half price on all Bourjois products I jumped at my opportunity and picked up the foundation and the powder from the same range.

Healthy Mix Foundation

For my first ever foundation I was really impressed by this product. I have the colour 052 and I have to be honest that it was just luck that I picked the right colour as I still have no idea how to shop for foundation! The finish is really lovely and the product goes on really smoothly. I am yet to invest in a foundation brush so at the moment I am just using my fingers and it still blends really well. The finish if the foundation is glowy and sheeny so I found that it worked really well for my skin type. The only thing that I would say is powder in the T zone is a must for setting this in place and preventing the skin from looking oily. I did wear this to my Prom and I had it on for a good 10 hours of dancing in a boiling marquee and by the end of the night it was pretty much all still there so I was super impressed with the staying power. It also made my skin look really lovely in photos. I’m saving this foundation for special occasions like parties and meals out but am really impressed with it so far. If I had one problem though it would be the heavy glass bottle as it means it’s not a very good one for carrying around or taking away with you.

Healthy Balance Powder

The only powder that I have bought for the last two years has been the Rimmel Matte Powder. It does the job and it I pretty cheap and I’ve never really seen the point in spending a load of money on a powder. However this one is about £3 cheaper than the Rimmel one but my god do you get your £3 worth. The first issue that I had with the Rimmel power was the plastic lid which I always ended up cracking and breaking which then meant that my powder was unprotected and it was either going to go all over my other makeup or just crack and go everywhere. At the height on my powder lid-less-ness I was using tin foil to protect my power which not only looked stupid but didn’t really work either. I then resulted on keeping powder lids that I had managed not to break as spares! However this powder has a lovely flip up lid which I can’t see breaking anytime soon (touch wood!). And not only that but it also has a mirror! Which I just think is amazing as it means I don’t have to carry around a separate compact mirror anymore, especially helpful when using a small clutch! There isn’t anything to protect the mirror from the powder so it is often quite powdery but I really doesn’t mind – I’m still in awe of this genius design! The powder itself is also really lovely and never goes cakey over whatever skin makeup I wear. And on no makeup days I love wearing just this and a bit of concealer as it still gives some coverage. Also considering how long I’ve had this and how much I have been using it it barely looks like I’ve scraped the surface! I never thought I would be getting so excited about a powder but this is such an amazing one!

A Quick Outfit Of The Day

A Quick Outfit Of The Day

Top - Jack Wills
Shorts - H&M

Nails - Essie Tea and Crumpets

Star Earrings - Accessorize

In couple of day I'm off to Cornwall with my family and my boyfriend so at the moment I am in the process of packing meaning I don't have a lot of clothes to wear right now. And the weather recently has been so hot and sunny! Today I haven't really done very much apart for tidying the house and picking up some bits and pieces from town so my outfit this morning was very much a grab stuff that I didn't think was coming to Cornwall. I you have been reading my blog from the beginning then you might recognise this top as it was in one of the first posts that I ever wrote! I got it from Jack Wills in the sale in January during my "obsessed with stars" phase around Christmas time.  I would normally wear this top in Winter because of the print and the colour but as soon as I put it on with these H&M grey/beige shorts (that match perfectly with the stars!) this morning I just fell in love with this outfit. So much so that I had to go and write a post about it!

And if your wondering why I'm not actually wearing the outfit in my post it's because apart from going into town I've spent most of my day sunbathing in my bikini! Let me know what you think of the outfit and if you think this top can work for summer as well :)

The Liebster Award

The Liebster Award

I still consider myself to be pretty new to blogging so when I heard that someone had nominated me for The Liebster Award I had to quickly go and Google it! I was actually nominated a couple of weeks ago by the lovely Diana from Cups & Roses for nominating me for this award. She is so sweet and she has such a lovely blog so you should definitely go and check here blog out here. Then yesterday I was nominated again by Monica from Brunette in Back. She has an amazing blog with such great post and she's pretty new to blogging like me so you should definitely go and check out her blog here

I was flattered to be nominated once, let alone twice! So now I have two sets of 11 questions to answer, and they are all such great questions that I don't want to miss any out. Hope you guys don't mind finding out a bit more about me than expected!

. Let's start with the rules

1. Post the award on your blog
2. Thank the blogger who presented the award and link back to their blog
3. Answer the 11 questions posted by the presenter and ask 11 for your nominees to answer
4. Nominate 11 bloggers who you feel deserve this award and who have less than 1100 followers
5. Let the nominees know you have nominated them

Diana's questions:

1. Where were you last year and where do you see yourself one year from now?

Last year I had just finished my AS exams and I was back at school starting my A2 subjecting and thinking about UCAS and university. In a year from now I hope to have earned enough money to go travelling and be looking forward to going to university.

  2. Which was the best year of your life till now and why?

I think the last year has been the best year of my life even though it has in many ways also been the hardest. I've had some things that didn't go quite my way but I've learnt so much about myself as a person and I think I've really gown up a lot. I also met my boyfriend last year and I have had much more of a social life!

  3. What is the biggest virtue blogging has taught you so far?

It sounds cliche but stay true to yourself. Just blog about things that interest you and write posts that you would want to read yourself. As long as you're enjoying blogging the rest doesn't really matter.

  4. Art or science?

I think I would have to say Art even though I actually chose to study science longer. But I'm a pretty creative person and have always love art and fashion.

  5. Do you have any hobbies?

Dance is a pretty big hobby of mine, I've been doing all sorts of dance since the age of four! I've also been part of a dance school for years now and they are almost like a second family to me! Honestly, my dance teacher is like my other mum! I also love yoga, singing, drawing and obviously blogging.
  6. Which is your favourite movie?

Another cliche answer I would have to say either Breakfast At Tiffany's (Audrey Hepburn is one of my idols) or the Notebook.

  7. Which is your favourite colour?

It changes depending on the season really. In summer I love coral and mint and pastel colours and in Winter I like to wear navy and burgundy. But I think if I had to pick one colour it would be a pastel blue.

  8. Which is your favourite fragrance?

Probably Daisy by Marc Jacobs or I have an Ghost perfume which has nearly finished but I don't want to use it as I know that they don't sell it anymore. Although I have just bought the new Daisy Dream perfume by Marc Jacobs and it smells AMAZING! So I think that would have to be my new favourite fragrance

  9. Eye shadow or lipstick?

My eyes are quite big and brown and are one of the features on my face that I like to use makeup to draw more attention to so I would have to say eyeshadow. Although being a bit of a makeup addict I do have a large and growing collection of lip products!

10. Which is your favourite holiday destination?

My ideal holiday would be lying on a beautiful beach with clear sea, listening to good music and reading a book/fashion magazine. Of the places I have been I love Egypt and Dubai but one day I would love to go to Bora Bora or Mauritius. Although I think city breaks are such a great holiday too. I just got back from Paris and I absolutely loved it.

11. How do you imagine your dream house?

I think designing your own house would be one of the most exciting things ever! When I was younger I used to be obsessed with Sims 2. I'd hardly ever actually play with the people I'd just build and design loads of different houses! I think my dream house would be an open plan kitchen and living area. I also think that there would be quite a lot of white with simple modern decor but decorative pretty accessories. Also it would be super neat as tidy and everything would have its place as I am such a neat freak!

Monica's questions:

1. A drink you wouldn't trade for anything

I don't really have a favourite drink to be honest. I love hot chocolates in the winter and summer fruits squash with lemonade in the summer.

2. What's your biggest fear?

I have loads of fears such as my life not meeting the expectations I have in my head which is ridiculous because life never turns out the way you plan it anyway! I think that my biggest fear though is losing someone that I love.

3. Favourite social network?

Well I don't have twitter and I don't use Facebook that much so I would have to say Instagram!

4. What talent would you like to have?

A photographic memory! Does that count?! If not then I'd love to be really logical and intelligent like the people in CSI and those kind of programmes!

5. Animals or people?

People because it's nice to have someone to talk to. Although I do love hugging animals.

6. A song that describes you the most

Okay, this is the hardest questions ever! Totally depends on my mood. I've spend like half an hour trying t think of a song and I still can't even answer that, sorry guys!

7. If you could build your own company, what would it be about?

I'd love to own my own fashion and accessories company, that would be amazing! Talk about a hard industry to break into though!
8. The thing you mostly want to do right now

Hug my boyfriend! Cheesy I know, but he's away in Leeds at the moment and I miss him.
9. Which Disney character would you like to be and why?

I would either be Violet from the Incredibles becuase it would be awesome to be invisible or Ariel from the little mermaid because the idea of living underwater in a castle with a fish as a bestfriend would just be the best thing ever!

10. Favourite scent?

My new perfume Daisy Dream by Marc Jacobs. Go check out my last post if you want to hear more about it!

11. Who's your role model?

I don't really think I have one. There are loads of people that I admire and look up to like Audrey Hepburn, my mum and Taylor Swift though!

My questions:

  1. What is your favourite place in the world?
  2. If you could only use one piece of makeup for the rest of your life what would it be?
  3. What is your dream job?
  4. Where do you hope to be in 5 years time?
  5. What do you like to do in your free time?
  6. What is your relationship to the last person that  you texted?
  7. What is your favourite high street and favourite designer store?
  8. If you could only eat one meal forever what would it be?
  9. Describe your style in three words
  10. When did you start blogging and why?
  11. Who is your celebrity crush?
I am nominating:
  1. Bea from beatricenotyetlost.blogspot.co.uk

Hope you haven't already won this award! But if you have maybe you just want to answer my questions :)

  1. What is your favourite place in the world?
  2. If you could only use one piece of makeup for the rest of your life what would it be?
