A Spot Of Fur

A Spot Of Fur

Katherine Penney Chic Winter Outfit Fashion Style Clothes Fur Spotty

Just another wintery outfit post that I wanted to share with you. I say wintery, but on the day that I more this it was actually pretty warm for November and I managed to get away with just a top and my fur gilet. The outfit is really casual and simple but I think it looks expensive and classy at the same time.

I chose this beautiful red berry shade for my nails and kept my makeup and lips really natural.

I dug this necklace out of my jewellery box the other day and forgot how much I loved it. I think it is more of a summery piece as that is when I bought it but it works perfectly with this top and the rest of the outfit.

Would you believe that this amazing mini satchel was £6 from Primark?! I bought this at the beginning of summer this year and I can't believe how much wear I have got out of it.

I think these are quite possibly my most worn shoes of all time! And they were less than £10 from George Asda! I don't even want to think about how many years I have had these as you can probably tell by the fact that one is now a different colour to the other! But they are just so comfy and I love the fact that they aren't patent or glittery.

Top - Forever 21
Jeans - Dorothy Perkins
Fur gilet - Zara
Shoes - George Asda
Handbag - Primark
Necklace - Accessorize
Watch - Nixon
Nail polish - Essie Shearling Darling
Lip crayon - Collection in shade Cappuccino

Katherine Penney Chic Christmas Party Evening Wishlist

Party season is nearly upon us which means it's time to start thinking about what to wear for all these Christmassy evenings! So above are just a few of my favourite pieces on the highstreet for this party season. It's pretty and pastel with quite a bit of glitter (no surprises there!). So I hope this gives you some inspiration or at least gets you excited about planning some glitzy evening outfits!

After the Christmas lights turn on and a day spent wondering around the Manchester Christmas markets I am starting to feel super festive! So when it came to painting my nails a few days ago I decided to go for something a little Christmassy!

Both the nail polishes that I chose are new to me so I really wanted to share with you what I thought of them. The first is Essie's Shearling Darling polish which is a really sophisticated dark red/maroon and perfect for this time of year. Like pretty much all of the Essie nail polishes that I have tried it is amazing quality and a lovely thick brush. For top coat I chose the Rimmel glitter bomb top coat in Disco Diva because I am a sucker for anything sparkly! Especially at this time of year! It's fine silver glitter with larger pink glitter and look just beautiful when it catches the light. And I found that over a colour one coat of this is perfect.

I really love this combination of polishes but to be honestly I think that this glitter top coat would look great over a lot of colours and I can't wait to try it over other shades!

Hope you are all well. Exactly one month until Christmas now! :D xx

Olivia Palermo Inspired Natural Makeup

Olivia Palermo Inspired Natural Makeup

Olivia Palermo has been a huge girl crush of mine for a long time. To me she is just so classy, feminine and sophisticated and has an incredible sense of style. I've always been inspired by how she dresses but recently while scrolling through photos of her on weheartit it was her makeup that really caught my attention. I really loved her natrual look with glowing skin, a subtle brown smokey eye and a nude glossy lip.

Apart from brown hair and brown eyes I don't look anything like her and this makeup look isn't an exact copy of a photo just inspiration from several of them. All products that I am using are from the drug store.

Face:
MaXfactor face finity all day primer
Rimmel wake me up foundation
Rimmel wake me up concealer
Collection lasting perfection concealer
Bourjois chocolate bronzer
Sleek blusher - Suede

Eyes and eyebrows
Collection work the colour eyebrow kit
Natural collection eyeshadows - milk chocolate and crushed walnut
Loreal matte eyeshadow - 106 breaking nude
MUA undress me too eyeshadow palette - black shade used as eyeliner
Natural collection eyeliner (waterline) - Medium brown
The Body Shop define and lengthen mascara

Lips
Deluxe lipstick - Charleston 03

Hope you liked this post. A couple of these products are new to me so look forward to some detailed reviews coming up soon :) xx

Manchester Christmas Markets

Manchester Christmas Markets

Penney Chic Manchester christmas market 2014

Last weekend Jack (my boyfriend) came to Manchester. We had a really lovely relaxing weekend and it was so nice to forget about work for a bit after handing in my coursework for my deadline last Friday.

Last weekend also marked the first weekend of the Manchester Christmas markets. Something that I had never heard of but are a apparently a really big deal and people come from far away to wonder around them. I'm already super excited about Christmas and the amazing Manchester Christmas lights turn on a few weeks ago really got me into the Christmas spirit! I'm even started to get my Christmas playlist all ready!

Penney Chic Manchester christmas market 2014

We had such a nice time wondering around the Christmas markets and were there for several hours and I don't think we even covered it all. It's so huge that they have about seven separate markets that they have made into a trail so you can walk from the French market to the craft market to the food areas.

I didn't end up buying anything from the stalls (student budgeting and all that!) apart from some of food. We had a German hot dog, which I wasn't too sure about followed by an amazing Nutella crepe which are always my favourite.

Penney Chic Manchester christmas market 2014

Really want to go back and try one of these pretzels! Was just way too full at the time.

Penney Chic Manchester christmas market 2014

Just wanted to share with you a few of the pictures that I took and hopefully get you into the Christmas spirit. I'm getting so excited now and I can't wait to go back home to my family and just spend evenings with them chilling by the fire. I haven't been home since I left for university! And before that the longest I had ever been away from home was about a week!

Hope you are all well. Speak soon xx

Sleek True Colour Sheen Lipstick in Barely There

Sleek True Colour Sheen Lipstick in Barely There

Penney Chic Sleek Lipstick

I picked this lipstick up about a week ago when I saw it and remembered Alix from I Covet Thee talking about it a while ago. And since then I can't heard or read anything else about this lipstick so I thought I would do a little first impressions and review post.

Penney Chic Sleek Lipstick

Firstly I love the simple matte black packaging of the lipstick and how small it is. Perfect for squeezing into a little makeup bag or clutch. The colour is a nude/coral so it is really natural and wearable and the finish is light and sheeny. I really love the colour of this lipstick and think it would look beautiful with more of a smokey eye or as part of a really natural makeup look for summer.

Penney Chic Sleek Lipstick

Overall all I do really like this product especially the stunning colour. Sometimes I have found that this does go a little blotchy so I recommend that you make sure you lips are exfoliated and moisturised before applying - but that is probably the case for most lipsticks. Let me know if you have ever tried any other Sleek lipsticks. I'm tempted to go back and see if they have a nice dark/plum shade for winter! xx

Casual Stripes And Pink Fur Coat

Casual Stripes And Pink Fur Coat

Just another outfit post as it feels like I haven't done one is forever. I'm really excited to share with one with you as it was one of those break through moments where I managed to pick a combination of clothes from my wardrobe that I have never worn before. It's so easy to just wear the same few outfits over again before you know they work and it's just easier. But sometimes it's fun to play around a bit and mix and match different things. After all, fashion should be creative and fun!

Forever pouting as my smile is weird! :P

Love this top that I picked up not long ago from Primark. I saw it and obviously feel in love with the stripes, but what I really like is the linen fabric on the back. It just adds a little extra detail and kind of reminds me of something you might find at J Crew. I also think this would look great in summer with any colour denim shorts.

I picked up the black from the hat and the stripe on the top with my jeans. And then added a little bit (but very pale!) of colour with this pinkish fur jacket which I love. For jewellery I chose a statement necklace to dress up my outfit and pick up the pale pink form the jacket.

Top - Primark
Jeans - Tesco
Jacket - River Island
Hat - Primark
Necklace - Accessorize
Watch - Nixon
Lipstick - Revlon

This is another one of the lip products that I recently picked up and am already in love with. It's like a cross between a lipstick and a lip gloss and the colour is just perfect for everyday.

Love this necklace from Accessorize. It's sort of a statement necklace but it's stil really pretty and delicate.

So happy that I spotted this hat in Primark a while ago. They are so in fashion at the moment and this one was such a bargain. Love that it is all completely black as it so easy to wear and perfect for hiding a bad hair day.

Hope you liked this outfit post and that maybe it inspires you to break out of you comfort zone a bit and wear a combination of clothes that you have never worn before. I'm going to try and do this more often as it's a great way of looking like you have way more clothes than you actually do! :P
