Katherine Penney Chic Essie Nail Polish Bedroom Pretty Pastel Decor

Tomorrow I am heading back to university for my exam on Wednesday. I'm kind of nervous but also really looking forward to seeing all of my friends again!

So today was mostly just revision but while I was packing for tomorrow I also had a little bit of a sort out in my bedroom. When I come back I am going to have twice as much stuff and I have no idea where it is all going to go! Love how pretty all these pastel Essie nail polishes look on my shelves.

Katherine Penney Chic Outfit Style Preppy Smart Simple Shirt Jumper

I love it when you kind a new combination of clothes that you have never worn before! It's like a whole new outfit but without having to spend any money! Today I was wearing a white V-neck jumper with a thin denim shirt underneath.

I love the details of the collar and the sleeves that shirts give under jumpers. I think that it looks preppy and smart but is also perfect for unpredictable weather. I paired these with my new black Zara jeans which are just so comfy and I can't stop wearing them.

And finally I accessorised with my favourite gold necklace right now. I love this delicate flower detail and it goes perfectly with my gold watch.

Hope everyone had a lovely weekend. Speak soon xx

Some New Things

Some New Things

Katherine Penney Chic Random Stuff Haul Clutch Sports Bra Nike Polaroid Camera Voss

I have been meaning to write this post for ages so I would hardly call most of this stuff that "new" anymore! But I have still been loving all of these things so I wanted to share them with you anyway.

Katherine Penney Chic Random Stuff Haul Clutch Sports Bra Nike Polaroid Camera Voss

For the last couple of months or so I have been trying to get back into running and fitness. Partly for the bikini body (not gonna lie!) but also I am just trying to lead a healthier lifestyle. And one think that I was desperate for was another sports bra. I already have a white one from Nike which is so supportive and comfy and I love it. So naturally I went straight back to Nike for my new one. But this time I went for a bright summery colour and I think this looks so cool showing though thin running tops.

I also found this Voss water bottle in Tesco for £2. This is a glass water bottle and I've seen them a lot on WeHeartIt which is what made me buy it really! I don't take this running, not sure how practical a glass bottle really is! But I have this on my desk and try and drink two of these a day.

Katherine Penney Chic Random Stuff Haul Clutch Sports Bra Nike Polaroid Camera Voss

How beautiful is this?! I have wanted one of these for ages as I think they are so cool, but they are also quite expensive so I didn't really want to buy one myself. So when I received this from my boyfriend Jack from our 2 year anniversary at the beginning of this month it was the best thing ever! Shows how well he knows me really! And in case you were wondering I got him a nice leather wallet, but honestly I was definitely spoilt!

I can't wait to take this on summer days out, long dog walks, day trips to London and picnics in the park.

Katherine Penney Chic Random Stuff Haul Clutch Sports Bra Nike Polaroid Camera Voss

The last think I got recently was this beautiful white clutch from New Look. I needed this to go with my dress for a ball a few weeks back. I wanted something that I didn't want to have to spend too much money on but it didn't look cheap. So when I saw this for just over £10 I knew it was perfect. And I can fit all my random stuff and the polaroid camera in this!

Let me know in the comments if you have any of these things. I am loving them all so much so think of this as like a random favourites as well! Speak soon xx

Bridal Fashion Week 2015

Bridal Fashion Week 2015

So I'll admit it, I'm one of those girls that has been planning my dream wedding ever since I was old enough to know what a wedding was! I remember being a bridesmaid when I was about 8 and getting a wear a poofy blue dress with huge bow on the back and carrying around a little basket of roses, which funnily enough I kept for months after until they went brown and crispy and then started to smell! But I felt like a princess and loved every moment of it!

As you can probably guess it is the dresses that are my favourite part of weddings. I think I might still have some drawings of my dream wedding dress that I did when I was younger! And even now (although I don't tell people!) I like to have a little browse online at wedding dresses, my favourite website being Vera Wang! A girl can dream!

So when I was given the opportunity to work with Weddington Way to cover the absolutely gorgeous exclusive images from Bridal Fashion Week, I jumped at the chance to write about the different trends and styles. Beautiful fashion, weddings and current trends. Couldn't be more perfect!

Separates

Katherine Penney Chic Bridal Fashion Week Trends Beautiful

Crop tops are going to be huge this season, and bridal fashion is definitely no exception. To me this style is very fresh and new and almost challenging the very traditional wedding dresses. Lots of lace crop tops were seen keeping everything very pretty and feminine. And if you are showing some midriff at your wedding then it is best to cover up in other places (it is a wedding!) so long skirts, high necks and little sleeves.

New Colour

Katherine Penney Chic Bridal Fashion Week Trends Beautiful

Who says a wedding dress has to be white? Another style that is really pushing the boundaries of bridal fashion this season. Colour palettes were usually kept to pastels but with beautiful shades of powder blues and peachy pinks. And some dresses, like the image in the middle even went as far as a subtle floral print. And with such a gorgeous and traditional style dress I think this really works, and is perfectly complimented by those matching pink flowers.

Embellished

Katherine Penney Chic Bridal Fashion Week Trends Beautiful

Embellishment is probably one of those trends that comes back every year in Bridal fashion. It's also one of my favourite trends as it is just so beautiful. This season think delicate beading and pretty sequins especially on the bodice and around necklines.

Back Details

Katherine Penney Chic Bridal Fashion Week Trends Beautiful
A lot of beautiful detailed low back dresses were seen on the runway. So if you're not brave enough to show your midriff with a cropped top then you can still flash a bit of skin. There are so many different ways to wear this trend, with some embellishment or as seen in the stunning sheer dress with the buttons down the back.

Texture

Katherine Penney Chic Bridal Fashion Week Trends Beautiful

Wedding dresses this season wee far from boring. Mixing up up texture can change both the look and feel of a dress. This season saw lots of lace, tulle, ruffles and even some beautiful white feathers. For a wedding dress white lace would be a classic, feminine look, tulle is quite fresh and feathers are really pushing the boundaries of wedding fashion which I love. How beautiful is that dress in the top left corner?

Sheer

Katherine Penney Chic Bridal Fashion Week Trends Beautiful

Sheer fabrics where seen everywhere are Fashion Week this year. Sheer dresses and skirts are possibly not so wedding appropriate but this huge trend has definitely filtered into bridal fashion. The nod to the trend is most commonly seen by sheer bodice panels and sleeves. And often combined with lace detail and embellishment it can give the optical illusion that it is floating on the skin. This has to be one of my favourite new trends. It's is so delicate and stunning but also fresh and something a little different for a wedding dress.

Hope you liked reading my breakdown of all the different trends at Bridal Fashion Week this season. I'd love to hear in the comments below which you favourite trend was. And thank you to Weddington Way for some of these beautiful photos. And for more beautiful dress inspiration you can check out their lovely website here. Speak soon xx

Life Is Like A Box Of Chocolates...

Katherine Penney Chic Food Chocolate Hotel Chocolat Life Fancy Box of chocolates

And if my life is like a box of chocolates then I am hoping it would look a bit like this one! All the best things!

Two posts in one day, I'm on a roll! And I took some outfit photos for a post that should be coming up in a couple of days. I've done so much blog stuff today, which would be great if I didn't actually have exams in less that a week. Priorities and all that!

Katherine Penney Chic Food Chocolate Hotel Chocolat Life Fancy Box of chocolates

There is literally no point to this post other than to share with you these lovely photos of chocolate! They were a surprise gift from Jack's parents after I helped out at their family barbecue last weekend. I honestly don't feel like I helped out enough to deserve these though.

I'm not sure I have ever had anything from Hotel Chocolat, Thornton's is about as fancy as I get. And I'm sure Jack must have helped them picked as they are literally all my favourites, Milk Truffle, Strawberry Cheesecake, Dizzy Praline and Billionaire's Shortbread. Mum and I are going to watch a film tonight on Netflix and probably demolish the whole lot - there is two of each! And I'm not going to feel guilty as we are having salmon salad for dinner, so it all balances out!

I mentioned on Thursday's post that I was going shopping with my mum on Friday before I went to my boyfriend's house for the long weekend. So I thought that I would share with you the pieces that I picked up. Lots of pretty pastel things for summer.

Katherine Penney Chic Pastel Spring Summer Pretty Haul Clothes Beauty Makeup New Top Lace Blue bralette

I have been wanted a top like this for a while after seeing lots of pictures on Pinterest. It's quite a deep v-neck top in a beautiful floaty fabric. So when I saw this gorgeous cornflower blue top in Topshop I knew I had to have it. I can't wait to start wearing this with a delicate gold necklace, and hopefully a tan!

Katherine Penney Chic Pastel Spring Summer Pretty Haul Clothes Beauty Makeup New Top Lace Blue bralette

The second thing that I got was also from Topshop but they didn't have it in the store so I went home and ordered it online. Hence why this post is a little late. I've been using Pinterest a lot recently for fashion inspiration, so if you have Pinterest too you can go and check me out here. But on look that I have been loving is beautiful lace bralettes. I don't really wear them on their own but I think layered underneath vest tops or shirts they add lovely detail. I already have a black one with a lovely racer back detail but I really wanted a V-neck one with wider straps that I could wear with little vest tops and undone shirts and it would still be seen.

I am just loving this beautiful blue colour for summer and I think this will look so pretty under the blue Topshop top.

Finally I obviously had to pick up a few bits and pieces in Boots! I have wanted this eyeliner for ages but it always seemed to be sold out up until now. And since I have got this I have worn it nearly everyday. It's perfect for really opening and waking up my eyes and I can tell I will get a lot of use out of this.

And finally I picked up another Essie nail polish! In case you were wondering yes, I do have about 3 other Essie nail polishes that look exactly like this. But this one was in the sale pot for £3 which was a bargain so I felt like it was all justified! It's just a beautiful pastel pink that looks really natural but unlike any others I own this has a very fine shimmer that catches in the light and looks so pretty.

Hope you liked this short post of some new things. I have actually been doing so much shopping lately, new season and all that. So I have loads of new clothes that I want to share with you but I don't know whether it is best to put them all into huge haul post or to show you each item in seperate posts but styled into an outfit.

So please help me out by leaving a comment below letting me know if you would prefer to read a haul post or styled outfit posts. Speak soon xx

Katherine Penney Chic Summer Fashion Style Simple Classic Denim Shirt Skirt Leopard Shoes Zara Forever 21 Pretty Luxury Cute Flowers

Today after a long morning of revision I went to meet a friend for a coffee in town. I say coffee, but really I ordered one of those delicious iced chocolate drinks with cream and sprinkles on top! Today the weather has been so gorgeous and it finally feels like I can start wearing all of my summer clothes.

Katherine Penney Chic Summer Fashion Style Simple Classic Denim Shirt Skirt Leopard Shoes Zara Forever 21 Pretty Luxury Cute Flowers

If you read a few posts back then you may recognise these shoes which I did a whole post on when they first arrived. And if you want more details and better pictures of these new shoes that I am totally obsessed with you can read my post here. So today I thought I would put a summery outfit together with my my new shoes. And I hope you like it.

Katherine Penney Chic Summer Fashion Style Simple Classic Denim Shirt Skirt Leopard Shoes Zara Forever 21 Pretty Luxury Cute Flowers

As the shoes are quite bold I wanted to keep the rest of the outfit nice and simple. The skirt is one that I picked up last year from Forever 21. It's in a lovely stone colour and a really flattering shape which means it goes with so much in my wardrobe. The little bag that I am wearing is about 5 years old! I remember seeing it and thinking that it looked exactly like a Chanel one. It is a copy (probably not the best) but now I just wear it as it is white, pretty and practical if I don't need very much stuff.

My denim shirt it another recent purchase (I'm so bad!). I'd wanted this for ages but very few Zara's seemed to have it is stock, so the last time that I saw it I grabbed it. It's quite a thick denim material so it feels really nice quality and I love the beautiful pale shade of denim. I also love the little poppers and my favourite way to wear this is with a couple undone and then rolled-up sleeves.

Bank Holiday Weekend

Bank Holiday Weekend

Katherine Penney Chic Boyfriend Weekend Life Polaroid Cute

Hope that everyone is enjoying the last day of the Bank Holiday weekend. Shame that the weather wasn't a little better here!

I've spend all of this long weekend at my boyfriend Jack's house. On Sunday his parent's were throwing a huge family barbecue to celebrate their 25th Wedding Anniversary. So on Saturday I was helping them to get everything ready as they had about 45 family members coming over from both sides! It was so lovely to meet so much of his family as despite being together for over 2 years now I had still only met a small handful of them. It was such a nice day with so much amazing food and just a tiny bit of rain.

Today I have just been doing some more revision and sorting my life out a bit! Does anyone else have those days where before everything gets too crazy you just need to sit down, make some list, prioritise things you need to do and just feel on top of everything again?

Also just in case you read my last post and were wondering about my shopping trip on Friday which I mentioned in my last post, I did get a few bits. And then as soon as I got home I also did a bit of internet shopping for something that Topshop did have. So I'm hoping that will arrive tomorrow and then I have a little haul of you. Speak soon xx

Bits and Pieces

Bits and Pieces

Katherine Penney Chic Life Flowers Pretty Blue Decor Bedroom

Just a few little snaps from today that I felt like sharing really! I haven't really done anything very exciting today, mostly just revision. Although I did watch last nights episode of Vampire Diaries! Does anyone else still watch that?! Apparently Nina Dobrev who plays Elena has left the show so I am curious to see what is going to happen without the main character. But I guess as long as Stefan and Damon are still there I'll keep watching!

If you read my last post (if not scroll down!) then you might recognise these pretty forget-me-nots. Well I wasn't going to let them go to waste. They look so beautiful and delicate in this little vase. I feel a little bad for picking them but we have so many all over the garden!

Katherine Penney Chic Life Perfume Scent Decor Bedroom

This little perfume sample was in one of my many fashion magazines, packaged in a beautiful envelope. I finally decided to open it the other day and it smells gorgeous. It's annoying that it was on this paper so I couldn't actually wear the scent myself. But I put it on my shelf and it made my whole room smell incredible for about 48 hours! And a lot of my perfumes have nearly run out (check photo above!) so I'm slightly tempted by this one. Has anyone else tried it? Would love to hear your thoughts in the comments below. Think this may be a duty free purchase this summer!

Katherine Penney Chic Life Roberts Radio Polaroid Camera Blue White Pastel Decor Bedroom

Two of my favourite new things in the past few months looking beautiful on my chest of drawers. Love the pastels colours which go perfectly with my bedroom.

Tomorrow I think I am going to wonder around some shops with my mum. Can't wait to get out of the house after spending most of today glued to my desk. And I've got my eye on a few things from Topshop, so you never know! Although my ASOS package only arrived yesterday!

Anyway, thought I would mix things up with a bit of a chatty life post this evening. I love writing these, despite my life not being very interesting right now! And I hope that you like reading them and getting to know a bit more about me xx

Daily Face Routine

Daily Face Routine

Katherine Penney Chic Beauty Skincare Face Routine Natural Makeup Morning

Since I've been back at home I haven't really done anything special or even left the house that often. And on those kind of days I try not to wear any makeup and go completely bare faced to let my skin breathe a little. And not only does it save me about 20 minutes in the morning but I have also noticed my skin improving a bit too.

I used to think that the more products that I put on my face, each claiming to benefit me in some way the better my skin would get. But now I really believe in going back to the basics, especially if you have fairly sensitive or spot prone skin like myself. In the past few months I looked at everything that I was putting on my face and decided if each product was actually improving my skin, and if I wasn't sure I cut it out my routine. So today I am going to share with you my current skincare routine so I hope that you find it interesting.

I think the two basics for skincare are some kind of cleanser to get rid of any dirt or build-up throughout the day and a moisturiser to rehydrate the skin. I've tried so many different cleansers and moisturisers that would work for a bit and then just stop working. But after finally visiting a dermatologist I am now using a brand called Solvere for both my cleanser and moisturiser. These products are especially for acne prone skin so obviously they are not for everyone. If you do suffer from acne in any way then I would first recommend going to a dermatologist as they really do know what they are talking about. If this isn't possible then look for something with Salicylic Acid in aim at acne prone skin. The Salicylic Acid dries out the spots in order to get rid of them, which might make your skin appear worse for the first couple of weeks but stick with it and you should see great improvements in the long run.

After I have cleansed my face my next step is my La Roche Posay Serozinc. I stopped using this for a few month last year and my skin was not happy about it! Never again! For me this just helps to smooth out my skin and get rid of all of those little bumps that I used to get, especially on my forehead. I used this straight after cleanser and then let it skin in for a few minutes.

Next I use another product that I totally swear by, Clinique Anti-Blemish Solution Clearing Gel. Honestly this stuff amazing! I apply a really thin layer pretty much all over my face and then a little bit extra on any specific spots. I also carry this around in my bag and as soon as I feel a spot coming through during the day I will put a little bit of this on every few hours or so and 90% of the time it will disappear!

After the spot gel has sunk into my skin I moisturise using my Solvere moisturiser. One think that I learnt from my dermatologist is not to go over board with moisturiser. There used to be a time where I would use as much moisturiser as possible thinking that one day I would wake up with skin as smooth as a baby's bottom! Now I use the tiniest bit all over my face and down my neck, so I still get all of the moisturising benefits but without clogging up my pores. Especially if you are trying to fight acne allowing your skin to dry out a little bit to get rid of spots is really important.

I also think that in around your teenage years you should start using an eye creams. The skin under your eyes is really delicate so it's important to take really good care of it. However unlike I used to think using an anti-wrinkle eye cream when you are 14 doesn't mean you won't get wrinkles in the future! It's important to get skincare that is suited to your skin right now. If products are advertised as being anti-wrinkle for 40+ they aren't really going to work for young skin. My favourite eye cream is Boots Simply Sensitive Moisturising Eye Cream. It's so light and easy to blend so you never feel like you are tugging on the skin and a little goes a really long way.

Finally I will curl my eyelashes to make my eyes appear a bit more awake. And then apply some Vaseline to my lips and possibly a bit of my Clinique Chubby Stick in Two Ton Tomato. I love using this over Vaseline as it makes it really sheer but just adds a little bit of natural colour to the lips.

If you actually managed to get to the end of this long and rambling post then I'm very impressed! I hope that it was in some way useful to someone out there or you just enjoyed finding out a bit more about my skincare routine. Speak soon xx

Leopard Lovin'

Leopard Lovin'

Katherine Penney Chic New Shoes Leopard Print Bold Fashion Style Shopping Warehouse Slip-ons

I have been seeing these slip-on style shoes everywhere and I have wanted a pair for a while. They just look casual, comfy and a cute nod to the sports luxe trend. Also I've seen then styled in so many different ways, with all types and colours of jeans and little summer dresses and skirts. These are so many different styles, colours and prints out there but after seeing several different outfits on Tuula Vintage I knew I really wanted some leopard print ones.

Katherine Penney Chic New Shoes Leopard Print Bold Fashion Style Shopping Warehouse Slip-ons

I knew I really wanted I lighter shade pair and preferably in the pony skin texture as I think it makes them look a lot more expensive. So after hours (yes hours!) of searching I finally found this pair from Warehouse. They were exactly what I had been looking for and weren't a totally crazy price, especially with my student discount!

Katherine Penney Chic New Shoes Leopard Print Bold Fashion Style Shopping Warehouse Slip-ons

They are a bit like marmite though! My mum and I love them, my brother and my boyriend hate them! Maybe they are just one of those trends that guys don't get? Either way, I think they are so cool. As someone who doesn't wear much colour or anything too out there this was a pretty bold purchase for me. But I can't wait to style them with different outfits and create different looks. And I think paired with something simple they will finish an outfit off perfectly and add a little pop of print.

For a couple of weeks now I have been struggling to blog without a camera since mine starting getting an error and then stopped working all together. But I can happily say that my new lens has finally arrived and it is beautiful! I'm currently just snapping away and trying to figure it all out but so far I am very impressed.

Subtle Smoky Eyes

Subtle Smokey Eyes

Katherine Penney Chic Makeup Look Beauty Curled Hair Smokey Eyeshadow

I am so sorry for such a lack of posts recently. I can't really remember the last time I went about a week without blogging. Basically my camera lens has had it so right now I can't really take any new photos for my blog which is so annoying as I keep thinking of so many posts that I want to write. And I am in the process of shopping for a new camera lens but they are pretty expensive and it is not something that I want to rush into.

Anyway, excuses aside I found some photos from a makeup look that I did a while back that I thought I could share with you.

Katherine Penney Chic Makeup Look Beauty Curled Hair Smokey Eyeshadow

I would describe this makeup look as being a subtle smkey eye, perfect for a night out but not something really full one. To get this look I used a natural glowy base and kept the rest of my makeup very minimal as I wanted the eyes to be the focal point.

Katherine Penney Chic Makeup Look Beauty Curled Hair Smokey Eyeshadow

For the eyeshadow I blended light natural browns into a darker grey shade for a gradient effect. I then used a thin line of black liquid liner on my top lashes for extra definition. And then for a more smokey effect I slightly smudged a black pencil liner on my bottom lashes. To finish off with I used loads of mascara for a really fluttery effect.

Katherine Penney Chic Makeup Look Beauty Curled Hair Smokey Eyeshadow

And here is me still learning to use my straigheners to do curls. Although I feel like I have finally mastered loose waves with straighteners. One side is always better than the other though, anyone else have that problem?!

Hope everyone is having a lovely Sunday. After stressful coursework deadlines I am finally back home with my family. It's so lovely being back here with my double bed and good food. And the weather is actually really lovely too.

Speak soon, hopefully when I have a lovely new camera lens!
